About me.

Raising a child is never easy.

Raising a bilingual child? That’s a whole different level of beautiful chaos, especially when you’re doing it far away from home.

Little Lingo was created for parents around the world who are navigating this exact journey: raising children between languages, cultures, and countries, often while questioning every single parenting decision along the way.

Hi, I’m Maria 👋
I’m a bilingual parent from Russia, raising my child in the UK and trying (most days successfully, some days not at all) to keep our heritage language alive alongside English.

I know how disheartening bilingual parenting can feel: the doubts, the guilt, the late-night Googling. But I also know the joy of those small wins when it does work.

I’ve always loved children’s books, and now I share that passion with my little helper, who helps me review, test, and sometimes dramatically reject them. If a book survives real-life storytime, it earns its place here.

You’ll notice that the book links I share are mostly for UK shops simply because I live in the UK, and it’s the easiest option for me. Many of these books are available elsewhere too, and I always encourage you to look for local options that work best for your family.

This website exists to offer support, honest advice, and practical tools for parents raising bilingual children, without pressure to be perfect.

I hope Little Lingo makes you feel a little less alone on this journey.
And if you have thoughts about the site, stories, or advice about raising a bilingual child, I’d truly love to share them 💛
